The LogiSYM Philippines 2023 hosted its first Manila symposium on logistics, digitalization and sustainability at the World Trade Center in Pasay City on August 17.

The event was held in conjunction with Transport & Logistics Philippines Expo from Aug. 17 to 19.

The logistics and supply chain symposium promoted collaboration and knowledge exchange for professionals in a changing logistics landscape and supply chain industry.

Office for Transportation Security (OTS) administrator Undersecretary Ma.O R. Aplasca keynoted the forum. In his presentation titled “The Evolving Landscape of Transportation Security: Ensuring Security, Efficiency, and Confidence”, he shared OTS processes for ensuring cybersecurity in the Philippine supply chain.

Henrik Batallones, marketing and communications director, Supply Chain Management Association of the Philippines and PortCalls columnist, led the panel on “Building a Resilient Digital Workforce”. He was joined by Cliff Eala, founder and president, BS Works; David Cukingnan, director, Regional Supply Planning, APAC, SC Johnson; Stephanie Krishnan, associate vice president for Manufacturing, Retail, and Energy Insights, IDC Asia/Pacific; and Stevenson Tan, Environment, Health & Safety Asia Pacific Leader, Corteva Agriscience.

Dr. Albert Wee Kwan Tan, academic program director, Online Master in Business Administration of the Asian Institute of Management shared factors for business process transformation in his presentation “Digitalizing the Supply Chain.”

An overview of the Logistics & Supply Chain Management Society Shippers’ Council and chain risk management basics were presented by Dr. Raymon Krishnan and Scott W. Phillips, group senior director of ECCO Global Shoe Production and Sourcing.

The forum also featured supply chain services and digital solutions of Transport & Logistics exhibitors Aratum Philippines and FAST Logistics.
