DHL Express has appointed Nigel Lockett as the country manager for its business operations in the Philippines.

In this role, Lockett will be responsible for over 1,000 employees providing express delivery services from the Philippines to 220 countries and territories across the globe, DHL Express said in a statement.

He takes over from Nurhayati Abdullah, who has recently taken on a new regional role in DHL Express as the head of emerging markets.

Lockett will lead the team in leveraging critical investments in infrastructure, sustainability and technology, DHL said. He will also drive pandemic operation measures and keep an eye on the company’s overall strategy and goals.

Lockett has 26 years of experience working throughout the DHL Express network and has been deployed in countries such as Australia, Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand and the Philippines, giving him a comprehensive grasp of operations in the Asia Pacific region.

In the early 2000s, he managed the Manila gateway, which served as the central hub of DHL operations in the Philippines. His accomplishments earned him a promotion to senior director of operations before being named general manager of the Bangkok hub.

“With varied facility upgrades and relocations slated for the next three years, we will ensure that we can cater to continued growth, maintain our great service quality and remain a safe place to work for all. I am committed to being close to our people, customers, and partners,” Lockett said.

One of his top priorities for the company is to maintain clean operations and promote green logistics, affirmed by the recent addition of three electric vehicles to its fleet in Manila. This is a step towards the commitment to DHL’s global mission to reducelogistics-related emissions to zero by 2050.
