BOC-NAIA seizes P2.48M illegal drugs in 3 air parcels

  • Bureau of Customs-Ninoy Aquino International Airport seized on February 1 three parcels of illegal drugs estimated to be worth P2.48 million
  • Intercepted were six pouches of THC or tetrahydrocannabinol, 1.02 kg of the party drug ecstasy, and 106.46 grams of methamphetamine hydrochloride, popularly called “ice” overseas and “shabu” in the Philippines
  • The drugs were shipped from the US, France and Pakistan

The Bureau of Customs (BOC)-Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) seized separately on February 1 three air parcels of illegal drugs with a total street value estimated at P2.48 million at the Central Mail Exchange Center, Pair Cargo, and DHL Warehouse in Pasay City.

The parcels originated in the US, France, and Pakistan and were shipped to consignees in three locations: Negros Occidental, Makati City, and Camarines Sur, BOC-NAIA said in  a statement.

BOC officers turned over the illicit drugs to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency for proper disposition.

A physical examination of the three parcels showed one contained six plastic pouches of candies and one vape cartridge containing THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), 1.02 kg of the drug ecstasy or methylenedioxy- methamphetamine, and 106.46 grams of methamphetamine hydrochloride, popularly called “ice” abroad and “shabu” in the Philippines.

The consignees face possible charges for violations of Republic Act No. 9165, the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, and RA 10863, or the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act.
