The Bureau of Customs (BOC)–Port of Clark seized P10.36 million worth of Ketamine, an illegal drug, on January 30.

BOC discovered the drugs in a shipment containing a “fitness expander, massage twister, trimmer, push-up bar, yoga block” from Putrajaya, Malaysia, BOC said in a statement.

Acting on a piece of derogatory information from the National Bureau of Investigation, the shipment was subjected to mandatory x-ray scanning, which showed a suspicious image, prompting the conduct of a physical examination.

Discovered were three boxes of acupoint massage twisters with eight transparent plastic pouches containing a white powdered substance with a gross weight of 2,072 grams.

The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) confirmed the presence of Ketamine, a dangerous drug under Republic Act No. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, after the chemical laboratory analysis of the samples.

The BOC-Port of Clark issued a warrant of seizure and detention against the shipment.

On January 31, BOC-Port of Clark and PDEA jointly conducted a controlled delivery operation to the consignee’s address in Pasig City, which led to the arrest of a Chinese claimant.
