The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) and the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) agreed to collaborate in various areas such as safety, security, environmental protection and economic development.
The Management Service Agreement (MSA) signed on October 17 by CAAP director general Capt. Manuel Antonio Tamayo and ICAO secretary general Juan Carlos Salazar aims to establish a framework of cooperation between CAAP and ICAO. Philippine Ambassador to Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and the Maldives, Leo Tito L. Ausan, Jr. witnessed the signing at the Pan Pacific Sonargaon Dhaka Hotel in Bangladesh.
Under the agreement, CAAP will receive support to achieve higher strategic and compliance outcomes for aviation safety, capacity and efficiency, security and facilitation, environmental protection, and economic development through ICAO’s Capacity Development and Implementation Bureau.
“It is both an honor and privilege for CAAP to partner with the premier governmental organization for civil aviation that is the ICAO. Our mutual commitment to improvement of aviation service, and safety provides unyielding confidence in this partnership,” said Tamayo.
ICAO, a UN-specialized agency, focuses on global air transportation development and harmonizing air navigation principles.
