OOCL announced the launch of the New Zealand-Northeast Asia Express (NZN), a fixed-day weekly service developed through a vessel sharing agreement with CMA CGM.

The new service complements the company’s existing New Zealand-Southeast Asia Express (NZS), “which together will increase our capacity and port coverage to meet the growing demand and customer requirements in the New Zealand market,” the Hong Kong-based carrier said in a statement.

OOCL said it initiated the service to be able to cover all major New Zealand ports with direct calls in the Northeast Asia and Southeast Asia loops.  It will also benefit New Zealand exporters by minimizing their land-based transportation costs, the company added.

The NZN starts on December 24, 2011 and follows this port rotation schedule: Hong Kong, Chiwan, Ningbo, Shanghai, Pusan, Suva (or Nouméa as alternative), Auckland, Port Chalmers, Lyttelton, Tauranga, Nouméa, Hong Kong.
