An 800-meter access ramp at the NAIA Expressway (NAIAx) in Tramo, Pasay City was officially opened to motorists on March 1.

The access ramp is expected to ease traffic and provide seamless access to Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) and other areas, particularly those using EDSA southbound coming from Makati, or northbound, coming from the Entertainment City, NAIAx concessionaire San Miguel Corp. (SMC) said in a statement.

“This Tramo access ramp provides another option for motorists heading to the airport, and other areas in Parañaque City and Cavite province. We believe it can help relieve overall traffic congestion in the area, and improve traffic flow within the vicinity of the airport,” SMC president and chief executive officer Ramon Ang said.

Public Works and Highways Secretary Manuel Bonoan said further improvements on NAIAx are being studied by their agency, as grantor of the concession, in partnership with SMC, to improve traffic flow to airport terminals, given growing demand.

NAIAx is an 11-kilometer elevated toll road that connects the Skyway System to the three terminals of NAIA, as well as to Pasay’s Entertainment City, Macapagal Boulevard, Sucat Road in Parañaque City, and the road network to Cavite province.
