President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. signed an order expanding the Kamanga Agro-Industrial Economic Zone (AIEZ) in Sarangani.

Proclamation No 330 designated several parcels of land in Maasim, Sarangani province, for inclusion into the existing Kamanga AIEZ.

Marcos issued the proclamation on August 29, 2023, pursuant to Republic Act (RA) No. 7916, otherwise known as the Special Economic Zone Act of 1995, as amended by RA No. 8748 and upon the recommendation of the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) Board.

The proclamation states 370,705 square meters of land located at Barangay Kamanga will be included and subject to the provision of RA 7916, as amended; its implementing rules and regulations; PEZA Board of Directors Resolution No. 07-232 (s. 2007); and Resolution No. 22-021 (s. 2022).

PEZA said it recognized Sarangani’s potential as location of the Kamanga agro-industrial economic zone, which hosts a number of companies generating P42 billion worth of investments.

With the government’s trade and investment initiatives coupled with strengthened ecozone development programs, PEZA said it hopes more ecozones will be created in provinces to attract more industries.

PEZA added its intensified efforts to promote business and investment opportunities especially in the countryside and attract foreign investors align with Marcos’ directive to further increase development of ecozones.
