Loads of lessons, digital gems at Philippines Air Cargo Day forum

International and local industry experts will lead discussions on lessons learned during the pandemic and newfound opportunities for digital adoption as part of the first Philippines Air Cargo Day on November 3-4, 2022 at the Manila Marriott Hotel.

David Wee, International Air Transport Association’s regional manager of cargo operations, safety and security, will moderate the panel discussion on “Lessons Learned, Measures Taken to Manage the Pandemic” during the conference and exhibit on November 3.

Panelists include Atty Frank Edward Marty, Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines’ assistant director general I for the Flight Standards Inspectorate Service; Rosemarie Rafael, president and CEO of Airspeed International Corp.; and Jose Laurente Jr., assistant vice president of Cebu Pacific.

The second panel discussion on “Newfound Opportunities for Digital Adoption in the Philippines” will be moderated by Francis Norman Lopez, president of InterCommerce Network Services Inc.

Panelists include Transportation Undersecretary for Aviation and Airports Roberto Lim; DHL Global Forwarding (Philippines) managing director Yvonne Lee; and Cargo Flash Infotech founder and director Jasraj S. Chug.

Aside from the panel discussions, the conference is packed with presentations by various international and local aviation experts discussing air cargo trends and developments, including the following:

  • Global Air Cargo Trends & Capacity
  • International and local air cargo and e-commerce trends
  • Updates on new government cargo initiatives and regulatory changes
  • Cargo and postal handling standards
  • Preloading advance cargo information update to prepare for European Union Import Control System 2 implementation

Andre Majeres, head eCommerce and Cargo Operations of IATA, will also make several presentations, including on eCommerce trends and cargo digital transformation.

On November 4, a Dangerous Goods Workshop will update participants on changes in the IATA DG regulations for 2023.

The workshop will be led by David Brennan, Cargo Safety and Dangerous Goods head of IATA.

Aside from IATA, CAAP Aviation Safety Inspector Gina Marie Lazo will give an overview of regulations in place in country, including references to national legislation and supply chain management.

Jason Siy, Philippine Airlines vice president for cargo business, will discuss key challenges in moving dangerous goods in the country.

Workshop participants will receive an electronic copy of the 64th edition of the IATA 2023 DG Regulations and a workshop certificate of participation.

Aside from the event, IATA is conducting e-learning courses, which may be booked separately from the Philippines Air Cargo Day activities.

The Philippines Air Cargo Day is organized by IATA in cooperation with the Philippine Multimodal Transport and Logistics Association and PortCalls.
