Aviation experts headline Philippines Air Cargo Day on Nov 3-4
All systems go for the Philippines Air Cargo Day on Nov 3-4, 2022.
  • International and local aviation experts will gather for the first Philippines Air Cargo Day on Nov 3-4 at the Manila Marriott Hotel
  • The event consists of two parts: the conference and exhibit on November 3, and the Dangerous Goods Workshop on Nov 4
  • International Air Transport Association experts will give presentations on cargo and e-commerce trends, among other topics, on Nov 4
  • The Dangerous Goods Workshop on Nov 4 will update participants on changes in the IATA DG regulation for 2023

The first Philippines Air Cargo Day kicks off on November 3-4, 2022 at the Manila Marriott Hotel, with international and local aviation experts discussing air cargo trends and developments and the Philippine Air Cargo Agenda.

Jointly organized by the International Air Transport Association (IATA), Philippine Multimodal Transport and Logistics Association, Inc., and PortCalls, the event consists of two parts: the conference and exhibit on November 3, and the Dangerous Goods Workshop on November 4.

On November 3, Andre Majeres, IATA Head eCommerce and Cargo Operations, is giving presentations on:

  • e-Commerce Trends & Online Retailers Shipping Models
  • Cargo & Postal Handling Standards and ULD Regulations
  • Smart Facility Certification Program and ONE Source
  • Benefits of Cargo Messaging Standards (CXML vs CIMP) and EPIC

David Wee, Regional Manager Operations, Safety and Security (Cargo), Asia-Pacific, IATA, will discuss:

  • Global Air Cargo Trends & Capacity
  • Preloading Advance Cargo Information Update
  • Cargo Digitalization and Opportunities

Other speakers on November 3 are:

  • Roberto Lim, Transport Undersecretary for Aviation and Airports (The Philippine Air Cargo Agenda)
  • Carmelita Talusan, Bureau of Customs NAIA District Collector (Trade Facilitation Initiatives of the Bureau of Customs [Air Freight])
  • Atty Carmelo Arcilla, Executive Director, Civil Aeronautics Board (Cutting Red Tape / Streamlining Accreditation Processes)
  • Doris Torres, Executive Director and Chairperson, Training and Education, Philippine Multimodal Transport and Logistics Association (Private Sector Initiatives for the Air Cargo Community)
  • Marigrace Gutierrez, Manager of Trade Facility Division, Clark Development Corp.; and Jasmine Reyes, Manager of Traffic and Route, Luzon International Premier Airport Development Corp (Clark Airport ICT Programs)

There will also be two panel discussions participated in by leading practitioners and subject matter experts in air freight.

The first is on the topic “Lessons Learned, Measures Taken to Manage the Pandemic”, moderated by IATA’s David Wee. Panelists are Rosemarie Rafael, President and CEO, Airspeed International Corp; and Jose Laurente, Jr, Assistant Vice President, Cebu Pacific.
The second panel discussion on “Newfound Opportunities for Digital Adoption in the Philippines”. Moderator will be Francis Lopez, CEO, InterCommerce Network Services, and panelists Yvonne Lee, Managing Director, DHL Global Forwarding (Philippines), Inc; and Jasraj S Chug, Co-founder and Director, Cargoflash Infotech.

PMTLAI president Fernando Juan Perez will give the Nov 3 welcome remarks while IATA Philippine Country manager Samuel David will close the program.

November 4 DG Workshop

The November 4 Dangerous Goods (DG) Workshop, on the other hand, will update participants on changes in the IATA DG regulation for 2023.

The workshop will be led by David Brennan, Head Cargo Safety and Dangerous Goods, IATA.

Aside from IATA, Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines Aviation Safety Inspector Gina Marie Lazo will give an overview of regulations in place in country, including references to national legislation and supply chain management.

Philippine Airlines Vice President for Cargo Business Jason Siy will also share key challenges in moving dangerous goods in the country.

Workshop participants will receive an electronic copy of the 64th edition of the IATA 2023 DG Regulation and a workshop certificate of participation.
