  • Exporters of food products to China are advised to have their registration renewed with China’s Bureau of Import and Export Food Safety
  • The General Administration of Customs of the People’s Republic of China noted that the registry expiration date for some Philippine aquaculture production enterprises are nearing or have lapsed
  • Exporters of certain products should coordinate with the relevant local trade regulatory agency for renewal of their registration

Exporters of food products to China were advised to renew their registration with China’s Bureau of Import and Export Food Safety.

In an advisory, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) said application for renewal by overseas food production enterprises exporting to China should be filed within three to six months before the registration expires.

Failure to apply for renewal or to provide a timely written explanation for the late renewal may result in deregistration.

The General Administration of Customs of the People’s Republic of China (GACC) noted that the registry expiration date for some Philippine aquaculture production enterprises are nearing or have lapsed, DTI said.

Aquaculture production enterprises wishing to renew their GACC registration should coordinate with the Fisheries Inspection Section of the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources under the Department of Agriculture.

Philippine exporters of fresh fruits and vegetables, on the other hand, should coordinate with the Bureau of Plant Industry’s National Plant Quarantine Services Division.

Exporters of processed foods for meat products, sausage casings, aquatic products, dairy products, bird nest products, bee products, egg products, edible oils and fats, oilseeds, stuffed wheaten products, edible grains, milled grain industry products and malt,  dried beans, condiments, processed nuts and seeds, dried fruits, foods for special dietary purposes, health foods and frozen fruit should file their application through the Food and Drug Administration’s Center for Food Regulation and Research.

For other food products, manufacturers and/or exporters are required to directly register with the GACC through its website.

Exporters can also seek further assistance with DTI’s Export Marketing Bureau-Market Innovation Division.

China is one of the country’s major trading partners, with the country being its top source of imports and one of its top destinations for exports.
