Chelsea Logistics and Infrastructure Holdings Corp. (CLC) and three of its shipping lines are now using a unified online booking system, Chelsea Travel.

Chelsea Travel enables passengers to buy and pay their tickets even outside business hours, reducing the workload for tellers and optimizing customer service, CLC said in a statement.

The new system is being used by CLC’s three shipping lines–Starlite Ferries Inc., The SuperCat Fast Ferry Corp., and Trans-Asia Shipping Lines Inc.

CLC will officially launch on August 8 the first phase of Chelsea Travel, which allows passengers to book by just scanning a quick response (QR) code. Passengers with online bookings will be directed to the VIP lane at the ticket outlet so they can pay immediately without having to line up for a long time.

The second phase will enable passengers to pay online, skipping the manual transaction with a teller.

“Streamlining the booking process of our three shipping lines is challenging yet fulfilling. We recognize that the needs of passengers are dynamic and so is digital technology. We leveraged on the power of technology and the determination of our internal IT team to see this innovation come to fruition. This will surely bring greater operational efficiency and improved passenger travel experience,” CLC information technology (IT) head Efren Bernardino Jr said.

CLC president and chief executive officer Chryss Alfonsus Damuy, for his part, said: “As we witness the recovery in the passage business, we are glad to welcome our valued passengers with a user-friendly and unified online booking system. We continue to be committed to our vision of providing unrivalled customer service in the best possible way we can.

“We are launching not only an online booking system but also a streamlined way of running the passage business, increasing our team’s productivity and efficiency. Exceptional customer service will always be our top priority as it brings us a great sense of pride and fulfillment to see satisfied passengers.”

CLC said in May that Starlite Ferries, FastCat, and Trans-Asia were already providing passengers with contactless payment options as part of the group’s ongoing digitalization to modernize passenger booking.

The three shipping lines’ contactless payment for bookings became available through GCash, ShopeePay, and PayMaya.

CLC is the shipping and logistics arm of the Udenna Group of Companies. Its subsidiaries include Chelsea Shipping Corp., Trans-Asia, Udenna Investments B. V., Starlite Ferries, Worklink Services Inc., TASLI Services Inc., and SuperCat.
