The Batangas Passenger Terminal (BPT) is ready for the influx of passengers heading to the provinces for the All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day long weekend from October 29 to November 1.

Operator Asian Terminals Inc. (ATI) said it’s all systems go for the company’s “Oplan Biyaheng Ayos” (hassle-free travel) in partnership with port authorities, local governments, and stakeholders.

Batangas is one of the country’s busiest passenger ports, especially during holidays, as it directly connects mainland Luzon to island destinations such as Mindoro, Romblon, Masbate, Iloilo, Boracay, Palawan and other Visayas and Mindanao locations via fast-craft and domestic roll-on/roll-off vessels calling at the port.

In June, ATI inaugurated the newly completed Phases 1 and 2A of its integrated passenger terminal building project of Batangas port.

Spanning 15,000 square meters, the upgraded BPT can now serve around 3,500 passengers at any given time. Phase 2B of the project will further increase capacity to 6,000 passengers at any given time and will make it the biggest passenger terminal building nationwide.

ATI said BPT is now equipped with world-class facilities such as an expansive and fully air-conditioned passenger lounge, orderly ticketing offices, clean and gender-neutral restrooms, provisions for free wi-fi and clean drinking water, and mobility features for the elderly and differently-abled people, among others.

The terminal also has huge overhead digital boards advising passengers on the schedule of departing vessels, their designated boarding gates, and other relevant announcements.

Popular food outlets have also opened in BPT, including Seattle’s Best Coffee, Potato Corner, Mister Donut, Heaven’s Hamburger, Caramia Cakes & Gelato, Hongkong Style Noodles, apart from local delicacies and novelty shops for the ultimate passenger comfort and convenience.

Civil works for the expansion of the passenger terminal building started in 2020 and full completion is expected in 2023.
