Port operator Asian Terminals Inc. (ATI) inaugurated on June 14 the newly-completed Phases 1 and 2A of the integrated passenger terminal building (PTB) project of Batangas port.

ATI president Eusebio Tanco said the company invested P1.5 billion for the project.

This passenger terminal is a testament to ATI’s unwavering commitment and dynamic contribution to building and operating world-class and sustainable ports and logistics infrastructure that brings localities, connect economies, and build communities in line with the national development,” Tanco said.

Civil works for expansion of the PTB began in 2020 and full completion is expected in 2023.

The newly-renovated terminal features modern amenities, complete with food and commercial kiosks, including e-ticketing system, and is equipped with fully air-conditioned lounges and facilities for differently abled passengers.

ATI earlier said upon full completion, the upgraded PTB will resemble the fast-craft terminals in Hong Kong and Macau.

The project is also envisioned to further propel economic and tourism progress, not just in the city of Batangas but in the entire CALABARZON, and is expected to open an array of livelihood opportunities to the people.
