President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. has created and designated Tupi Information Technology (IT) Park in Tupi, South Cotabato as a special economic zone.

Signed on May 2, Proclamation No. 530 designates several parcels of land with an area of 15,000 square meters along Brgy. Poblacion, Tupi as an IT park.

The designation was made upon the recommendation of the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) Board, which approved the ecozone in May 2023.

The IT park is spearheaded by Matutum Holdings Development Corporation.

The proclamation is pursuant to Republic Act (RA) No. 7916, or the Special Economic Zone Act of 1995, as amended by RA No. 8748.

RA 7916, signed into law on February 24, 1995, aims to encourage economic growth through the development of special economic zones.

As of 2023, PEZA hosts 422 ecozones and 4,352 locator companies/projects nationwide.
