Tagbilaran port’s second passenger terminal inaugurated

  • The Department of Transportation and Philippine Ports Authority inaugurated on April 14 the newly constructed second passenger terminal building (PTB) at Tagbilaran port in Bohol
  • The two-storey PTB II adds 613 to the port’s total passenger capacity of 1,110; the first PTB’s passenger capacity is 497
  • The Tagbilaran port project is part of the 22 port infrastructure projects of DOTr and PPA in the province of Bohol, of which 16 have been completed while six are ongoing
  • DOTr and PPA are also gearing up to undertake four other projects at the ports of Jagna, Catagbacan, Getafe

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) and Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) formally inaugurated on April 14 the newly constructed second passenger terminal building (PTB) at Tagbilaran port in Bohol.


The two-storey PTB II has a passenger capacity of 613, increasing the port’s passenger capacity to 1,110 in addition to the first PTB’s passenger capacity of 497. PPA earlier said the completed second PTB “is an important milestone” for the seaport, which sustained significant structural damage from a strong earthquake in 2013.

Besides the new PTB, which was completed in October 2020, PPA also constructed a pump house, installed concrete pavements, and built lamp post foundations at the port.

The Tagbilaran port project is part of the 22 port infrastructure projects of DOTr and PPA in the province of Bohol. Fifteen other port projects have already been completed while six are ongoing.

Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade, during the inauguration, said another improvement project for Tagbilaran port is in the pipeline. To further enhance maritime mobility and connectivity to and from the province of Bohol, DOTr and PPA are also gearing up to undertake four other projects at the ports of Jagna, Catagbacan, Getafe.
