Royal Cargo has opened a dangerous goods (DG) warehouse in Calamba, Laguna.

The facility, located at Royal Cargo’s South Hub, was acquired in 2021 from Coca-Cola Philippines. It now primarily caters to the storage and transportation of raw ingredients for new Coca-Cola product, a blend of Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey and Coca-Cola. The beverage was launched in the Philippines in April 2023.

In a statement, Royal Cargo said it was “honored to take on the task of building a facility to store sensitive materials and raw ingredients for Coca-Cola” despite a challenging timeline: raw materials were expected to arrive in March 2023, just three months after both sides agreed on the project in December 2022.

Despite the time constraint, Royal Cargo said its DG team successfully launched the new DG warehouse in time for operations to begin in March 2023.

Royal Cargo said the warehouse is expected to generate significant revenue growth largely due to the company’s long-standing partnership with Coca-Cola.

“Our successful strategies have enabled us to establish a strong and mutually beneficial relationship with them, which may lead to further profitable opportunities,” Royal Cargo said.

The company has invested in firefighting and safety equipment including fire alarms, foam sprinklers, fume detectors, safety signs, and strict safety protocols to guarantee safe operations. Its Health, Safety, Security & Environment department provides close supervision to ensure that prevention measures are followed carefully.

Royal Cargo head of pharmaceutical logistics Elena Tomias said DG operations comply with all permits and that staff are trained in safety protocols.

“As demand for DG services continues to rise, we remain committed to enhancing our investment in this specialized service to offer our clients even more exceptional support,” Royal Cargo said.
