Regional Container Lines (RCL) is expanding its coverage of the Philippine market with the addition of the Port of Iloilo to its service.

RCL will be the first international carrier to call at Iloilo port, a move welcomed by both the business sector and the local government as it opens the province to the international market.

The Thailand-based carrier is expanding its RCL South Philippines Service 6 (RSP6) service with a maiden voyage set tentatively on July 21, 2023.

RCL’s Kiti Bhum 1010N, an 889-TEU (twenty-foot equivalent unit) Singapore-flagged vessel, will make the Singapore-Iloilo Commercial Port Complex-Cebu-Cagayan de Oro-Zamboanga rotation with its very first consignee, Kingfields Rice Solutions Inc.

The company noted that Iloilo is a highly urbanized city and is one of the country’s most progressive areas owing to its service industry, agro-fisheries industry, financial and insurance industry, and information and communications industry. Iloilo is labelled as the center of trade and commerce in the Western Visayas and its environs.

Through its country representative Jesus Sedano, RCL expressed its appreciation to the Iloilo local government and business sector, the Philippine Ports Authority, Department of Trade and Industry, Bureau of Customs, and other major stakeholders in the province for supporting the service.

RCL began its operation as a common feeder carrier operating between Thailand and Singapore. It owns and operates 49 container vessels that cover 69 destinations in Asia, India, the Indian subcontinent and the Middle East. RCL is headquartered in Bangkok and is publicly listed on the Stock Exchange of Thailand.
