PH bags championship in Asian air cargo golf tournament

The Aircargo Golf Club of the Philippines (AGCP) was overall champion for the fourth year in a row in the 2018 Aircargo Golf Club Regional Tournament held in Singapore.

AGCP also won the doubles team event, the company represented by the tandem of Jose Rodelio Mangulabnan (GPS Tracker) and Justin Limjap (CEL Logistics), while Mangulabnan also bagged the overall low gross champion for two days with a total of 147 gross.

Hosted by AGC Singapore, the 2018 tournament took place from May 6 to May 9, with two rounds held at Seletar Golf and Country Club and Orchid Golf and Country Club in Singapore. Six countries participated: Singapore, with 27 players; Thailand, 17 players; Indonesia, 21 players; Malaysia, nine players; Vietnam, eight players; and the Philippines, which had the most players with 32.

The annual event, which started in 1991, aims to foster camaraderie and promote cooperation among industry members within the Asian region. AGC members include players from the air freight forwarding, airline, ground-handling, logistics, and other related services.

AGCP joined the regional tournament in 2008, and won for the first time in 2010. It won again in 2013 and has been bagging the championship yearly since 2015, winning in Indonesia in that year, Malaysia in 2016, and the Philippines in 2017.

The Philippine team was headed by its chairman Jaime Bautista (Philippine Airlines), president Angelito Colona (Eagle Express Group), treasurers Alberto Lina (Airfreight 2100) and Michael Aquino (U-Freight Philippines), team captain Rudy Fulo (Cargohaus), team manager Agapito Capistrano (TMS Ship Agencies, Inc.), social activities directors Ramon De Leon (Pac-Atlanctic Group) and Mario Pangan (PAL), membership director Oman Santiago, and tournament director Gregg Sebastian (Hankyu Hanshin Express).

Other participants included Edgardo Abesamis (U-Freight), Edwin Abesamis (E.C. Abesamis Trucking), Migo Aquino (U-Freight), Lio Barayang (iSolutions International Inc.), Josefina Bautista (PAL), Ruperto Bayocot (RSB Customs Brokerage), Gerardo Claravall (U-Freight), Owen Fulo (Airfreight 2100), Engel Guzman (J-Pac Logistics, Inc.), Leopold Lacbo (Optimus Freight), Joseph Madrigal (Paircargo), Jose Roman Magat (U-Freight), Jacob Roman Magat (U-Freight), Jaime Alberto Melo (Clark International Airport Corporation), Alexander Ong (Gerdin International), Nemesio Pagtakhan (Stolt-Nielsen Philippines Inc.). AGCP was supported by ICTSI as a major sponsor and by PAL as its official airline, as well as by Pairpags, Cargohaus, TMS, Pac-Atlantic, Eagle Express, and OOCL Philippines.

The next AGC regional tournament will be held in Bangkok, Thailand.
