The four member carriers of the OCEAN Alliance have extended their operational cooperation until 2032 following a memorandum of understanding signing on February 27 in Shanghai.

Making up OCEAN Alliance are CMA CGM, COSCO Shipping, Evergreen and OOCL, which represents the world’s largest operational shipping network. The alliance was founded in 2017.

The chief executive officers of the carriers signed the MOU to commit to operational cooperation for an additional five years from 2027.

The alliance primarily connects Asia to Northern Europe, the Mediterranean, the Middle East, and the East and West coasts of North America.

With this extension until 2032, the alliance aims to continue delivering the best service offerings to its partners’ respective customers.

Rodolphe Saadé, chairman and CEO of the CMA CGM Group, expressed the commitment of the alliance to meet customers’ needs and build stronger supply chains. He said, “Our diversity is our strength, together we will continue to pioneer our industry.”

As part of their commitment to sustainability, the CMA CGM Group also said in a statement that they are actively working toward achieving “Net Zero by 2050.”

The group is implementing available solutions to reduce the environmental impact of shipping, including the operation of over 120 containerships propelled with alternative green fuels by 2027, some of which are already deployed within the OCEAN Alliance footprint.
