No major damage was reported in Mindanao airports following a magnitude 7.4 earthquake, the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) said on Sunday.

The quake hit the coast of Hinatuan in Surigao del Sur on December 2.

CAAP said “only minor damages” were found at the following airports based on the initial report from CAAP Area 12 manager Evangeline Daba:

  • Butuan
  • Surigao
  • Siargao
  • Tandag
  • Bislig

CAAP Area 11 Manager Rex Obcena said a few wall tiles fell off in the international arrival elevator area of Davao International Airport, posing no threat to airport operations.

The airports in Area 11 include Davao International Airport (Francisco Bangoy International Airport), General Santos International Airport, Cotabato Airport, Allah Valley Airport, and Mati Airport.

The aviation authority reported all passengers and duty personnel are safe and unharmed, and flight operations at both Area 11 and 12 airports operating normally.

“The Quick Response Team of all other airports in Mindanao are continuously conducting runway and passenger terminal building inspections to ensure that possible damages are located and repaired accordingly,” CAAP said.
