United Parcel Service has promoted Nando Cesarone, a 24-year company veteran, to president of UPS Asia Pacific.

As head of one of the fastest-growing regions of the world, Cesarone will have responsibility for more than 40 countries and territories throughout Asia.

Cesarone, a native of Toronto, Canada, is replacing Brendan Canavan, who will be returning to the United States to take on the role of president of UPS Airlines.

Since 2013, Cesarone has served as president of UPS’s South Asia District, based in Singapore. Under his leadership, UPS has expanded the company’s network and portfolio of solutions as the company increases its presence in Asia.

Prior roles at UPS included president of the North-East Europe District in 2012 and various positions in operations and engineering in Europe and Canada.

Cesarone joined the firm in 1990 as a package loader while attending college. He progressed through several operations positions of increasing responsibility while at UPS locations in Canada. Cesarone also gained international experience in Europe from 2007 to 2009. He received an MBA from Heriot-Watt University-Edinburgh School of Business.

Canavan, a 33-year UPS veteran and native of Philadelphia, United States, took on the role of Asia-Pacific region president in 2012 following various operational and marketing assignments in New York, Chicago, and Louisville, Kentucky, where he managed Worldport, UPS’s global air hub.

Prior to coming to Asia, Canavan served as North-East Europe District Manager from 2007.

Meanwhile, DHL has appointed Oscar de Bok as chief executive officer for DHL Supply Chain’s Asia-Pacific region, replacing Paul Graham who transfers to Bonn, Germany, to become the divisional chief operating officer and the CEO for mainland Europe, Middle East, and Africa. The organizational changes were effective from June 1.

De Bok was previously the CEO for DHL Supply Chain’s South and Southeast Asia region, a position he held since 2010. In his new position the scope of his responsibility has been extended to include the North Asia and South Pacific sub-regions.

“He brings a wealth of experience to the role, having worked in the logistics industry for nearly 25 years,” said a company release. During that time, he held a number of senior leadership roles within DHL Supply Chain, including senior vice president of business development in the Asia-Pacific, and managing director positions for Italy and the Nordic and Baltic regions.

On the other hand, in addition to being the new CEO for mainland Europe, Middle East, and Africa, Graham will also serve as DHL Supply Chain’s chief operating officer. He had been the CEO of Asia-Pacific, Middle East, and Africa, for the past six years.
