More than 50 ecozone locators bag PEZA award

  • Seven companies bagged the Outstanding Exporter Award
  • A total of 35 PEZA-registered companies and developer-operators were awarded under major categories, while 21 were awarded under the special awards category
  • PEZA now manages 410 economic zones with a total of 4,605 locator companies
  • Together, the firms’ investments have reached P3.9 trillion during the last 25 years and export revenues have amounted to US$839 trillion

The Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) has awarded more than 50 registered economic zone locators and developers in recognition of their contribution to the country’s socioeconomic growth and development.

A total of 35 PEZA-registered companies and developer/operators were awarded under major categories, while 21 were awarded under the special awards category at the PEZA Excellence Awards.

Of the 35, seven received the Outstanding Exporter Award. They are:

  • Dyson Electronics Pte. Ltd. – Philippine Branch
  • STMicroelectronics, Inc.
  • B/E Aerospace B.V. – Philippine Branch
  • Continental Temic Electronics (Philippines), Inc.
  • Wu Kong (S) Pte., Ltd. – Philippine Branch
  • Sutherland Global Services Philippines, Inc.
  • Concentrix Daksh Services Philippine Corporation

PEZA director-general Charito Plaza said the recognition showed appreciation for the registered business enterprises “for their relentless efforts,” and “to boost their confidence in doing business in the Philippines.”

She also thanked them for helping to transform the Philippine economy into “a thriving and vibrant one despite the challenges we are facing.”

Three new recognitions were added to the special awards category. The first is the COVID-19 Response Award given to PEZA-registered enterprises and economic zone developer-operators that successfully established policies and programs to avert the spread of the COVID-19 virus in their workplace.

The Green, Healthy, Smart, and Sustainable Ecozone Award was given to companies that promoted healthy industrialization and sustainably designed, smart and green economic zones.

The Galing Pinas! Awards went to PEZA-registered ecozone export enterprises that substantially utilized locally manufactured/produced and/or grown raw materials in their export products.

According to Plaza, PEZA now manages 410 economic zones housing a total of 4,605 locator companies, which have accumulated investments totaling P3.9 trillion during the last 25 years.

Export revenues of locator companies in the zones have reached US$839 billion and counting, Plaza noted.

The awarding was held December 10 during PEZA’s Investors’ Recognition Day, which coincided with the authority’s 25th silver anniversary celebration.

The Investors’ Recognition Day is the biggest annual event at PEZA, acknowledging the benefits that economic zones, with its developers, economic zone locator enterprises, and other stakeholders, contribute to the country’s socioeconomic growth and development.
