  • This is made possible by an MOU between the Department of Transportation and Incheon International Airport Corp to strengthen and develop the Philippine aviation sector via training programs and joint cooperation activities for Filipino aviation stakeholders
  • IIAC will provide DOTr with regular and customized training courses available at the IAAA, according to the MOU signed on November 17

Incheon Airport Aviation Academy (IAAA) will train Filipino aviation staff under a deal between the Department of Transportation (DOTr) and South Korea’s Incheon International Airport Corp. (IIAC)

Under a memorandum of understanding signed on November 17, IIAC will provide DOTr with regular and customized training courses available at IAAA. The academy has been designated by the International Civil Aviation Organization as an ICAO regional training center of excellence.

IIAC will also design and develop customized training courses that cater to DOTr’s specific training needs in the fields of airport operations, services, safety, and security, among other activities.

DOTr Undersecretary for Aviation and Airports Roberto Lim welcomed the DOTr-IIAC partnership, saying the training programs provided by IIAC through the IAAA will boost the country’s aviation sector.

“The Department of Transportation welcomes this opportunity to work with Incheon. The key to aviation progress or progress of any country is people – people who are trained properly to man all of its infrastructure,” Lim said in a statement.

IIAC Administration Division vice president Lim Byung-Kee said the state-owned South Korean airport corporation will further expand its ties with the Philippines in terms of aviation training and other related programs.

“Through this MOU partnership, I hope that we can expand cooperation in terms of aviation training in the future,” IIAC’s Lim said.
