Imran Shaikh has been appointed head of DHL Global Forwarding Philippines, Inc, replacing Stephen Ly who has returned to the company’s Singapore office.

Imran Shaikh is now the new head of logistics company DHL Global Forwarding (DGF) Philippines, Inc.

Shaikh was appointed country manager of DGF Philippines effective July this year, replacing Stephen Ly who returned to DGF Singapore after heading DGF Philippines for four years.

Shaikh has over 15 years of experience in international logistics, accounts management, freight forwarding, and import and export operations. His first exposure to the logistics and transportation industry was when he worked as an ocean export supervisor at Expeditors International in Los Angeles, California. He oversaw gateway operations, directed all aspects of ocean export operations, and provided support to sales by helping to acquire and maintain a business and client base.

From 2002 to 2006, he was import manager at Exel DHL Global Logistics in Los Angeles, California, where he handled the largest and most challenging U.S. freight management accounts, import operations for LAX branch, and the control tower for North America. He was a member of the U21 global strategy team and was involved in the design and implementation of the West Coast competency center procedures, the first in North America. The same model was subsequently launched and used in the Midwest and East Coast operations in North America. Shaikh also had a working stint in DGF Singapore from 2006 to 2008 as director for strategic accounts.

In 2008, he was appointed managing director of DGF Pakistan, where he successfully expanded their domestic operations and achieved outstanding business results. Shaikh is a certified global logistics specialist who holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from California State University.

DGF Philippines, the local forwarding arm of logistics giant Deutsche Post DHL Group, first started operations in 1976 and now has 12 offices located in key airports and ports across Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.  The company offers air and ocean forwarding services, customs clearance, logistic management services, project cargo, and value-added services. It has a wide range of sector expertise including in automotive, consumer, energy, engineering and manufacturing, financial services, life sciences and healthcare, public sector, retail, and technology.
