The Cotabato Airport reopened on October 1 after a runway rehabilitation.
The Ministry of Transportation and Communications (MOTC), through the Bangsamoro Airport Authority (BAA) and the Civil Aeronautics Board of the Bangsamoro, confirmed the resumption of the airport’s daily operations.
BAA-MOTC OIC (officer-in-charge) Director I Atty. Hanamir Emblawa, CPA, said the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) has issued a Notice to Airmen to resume flight operations.
Passengers can now access the following domestic flight routes to Cotabato City:
- PR 2959/2960 (daily): Manila-Cotabato-Manila
- PR 2223/2224 (Monday and Thursday): Cebu-Cotabato-Cebu
- PR 2487/2488 (Monday and Thursday): Cotabato-Tawi-Tawi-Cotabato
The first commercial aircraft to land at the newly reopened airport was Cebu Pacific.
Atty. Roland Hallid Torres, chairman of the Bangsamoro Business Council, believes reopening Cotabato Airport will benefit regional tourism and businesses, boosting economic growth. He highlights improved connectivity through the airport is vital for businesses to operate effectively.

Also known as Awang Airport, Cotabato Airport serves the areas of Cotabato City, North Cotabato, and Maguindanao del Norte.
It is classified as a Class 1 principal (major domestic) airport by the CAAP.
