Marseilles-based carrier CMA CGM announced it was discontinuing two service lines to and from New Zealand and Southeast Asia effective next month.

To be dropped from the end of June are the ANZEX 2 (Northern Loop) and ANZEX 2S (Southern Loop) lines.

CMA CGM explained it would offer instead a weekly port coverage of North Island via its Kiwi Express (KIX) line and continue covering South Island with the existing ANZEX line.

The ANZEX offers a direct link to and from Northeast Asia to three ports of call in the North Island and two ports of call in the South Island.

The final sailings on ANZEX 2 and ANZEX 2S from Southeast Asia on the Northern Loop will be June 22, with the Jens Maersk leaving Tanjung Pelepas, Malaysia.

On the Southern Loop, the last sailing ex-Southeast Asia is the Lica Maersk, which is expected to leave Tanjung Pelepas on July 1.

From New Zealand, the final journey on the Northern Loop is the Jeppesen Maersk, expected to call at Tauranga on June 28. On the Southern Loop, the Lexa Maersk will make the final trip on June 26 with a call at Tauranga.

Service on the Southeast Asia-New Zealand swing will be picked up by the KIX line with the APL Jeddah expected to leave Port Klang in Malaysia on July 1. Ex-New Zealand, the KIX maiden sailing on the revised service is the Hanjin Buenos Aires leaving Tauranga on July 2.
