Cebu Pacific recently took delivery of a brand-new Airbus A321neo, its third aircraft delivery for this year.

The plane, which arrived in Manila from Hamburg, Germany on March 21, is the first A321neo delivery for this year and the airline’s 14th A321neo. The aircraft utilized sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) in its flight.

SAF is an eco-friendly aviation fuel that can potentially reduce air travel carbon emissions by up to 80% when compared to conventional jet fuel. It does not affect performance in any way and doesn’t need any modifications to the engines or aircraft.

“We take pride in adding more SAF-powered aircraft to our growing fleet. This aircraft delivery represents the strides we are taking towards minimizing our carbon footprint and promoting sustainability in the aviation sector,” Cebu Pacific chief strategy officer Alex Reyes said.

Cebu Pacific noted that neo aircraft burn 15% less fuel per flight and aims to transition to an all-neo fleet by 2028.

For 2024, Cebu Pacific expects 17 aircraft deliveries.

Last year, the airline completed its 19 aircraft and engine deliveries, increasing its commercial fleet size to 77 aircraft.
