Cebu Pacific (CEB) received its 13th aircraft delivery this year, an Airbus A320neo, to meet the growing demand for travel.

The aircraft, which formally entered into service on November 1, used eco-friendly fuel for its delivery flight and arrived in Manila on October 25 from Airbus’ facility in Tianjin, China.

“This aircraft delivery supports our goal to make our operations more reliable while continuing to provide safe, reliable, and affordable air travel to our passengers. Our ongoing investment in SAF [sustainable aviation fuel] is also a crucial step for our decarbonization efforts, paving the way for a more sustainable future in air travel,” said CEB chief strategy officer Alex Reyes in a statement.

The airline expects a total of 19 aircraft deliveries for 2023, including six deliveries before the year ends.

CEB has one of the newest fleets globally, with 74 planes of different types (including six Airbus A330, 33 Airbus A320, 19 Airbus A321, and 16 ATR turboprop aircraft), which lets them cover the most areas in the Philippines.

The airline aims to use only the latest engine option (NEO) planes by 2028 and plan to use eco-friendly fuel for their whole network by 2030.

On October 18, CEB signed a memorandum of understanding with Neste, a top SAF producer, to get more eco-friendly fuel in the Asia Pacific. A week later, they flew their first commercial flight with SAF from Japan.

SAF is like regular jet fuel and does not need any special changes to the planes or engines. Moreover, it cuts carbon emissions by up to 80%.
