The role of Philippine customs brokers in a shifting trade landscape will be the highlight of this year’s 27th Annual National Convention of the Chamber of Customs Brokers, Inc. (CCBI) on November 3-4 in Davao City.

Organized by the only accredited professional organization for customs brokers in the Philippines, this year’s convention will revolve around the theme “The Evolving Role of Customs Brokers in Customs Modernization, Border Control and Security.”

The two-day event, to be held at SMX Convention in Lanang, will focus on the future of customs brokers in an evolving trade environment where the Philippines is striving to be an active player.

The event will also discuss the effect of the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act on the profession, and how customs brokers can embrace this law and find opportunities in it. Also to be tackled are the future of customs administration education and other industry updates.

Noting that the customs broker profession is at a critical point, CCBI said making progress in the areas of technology enhancement, global trade management, border control administration, and security is key to securing the profession’s future relevance.

CCBI has invited President Rodrigo Duterte to deliver the keynote address and Customs Commissioner Isidro Lapeña to be the guest speaker at the event, which is expected to attract more than 500 participants from all over the country.
