The Bureau of Customs (BOC) apprehended on June 2 three suspected smuggled vehicles worth an estimated P20 million at the Manila International Container Port (MICP).

The apprehension came after BOC seized on May 26 a similar shipment of concealed vehicles from the same origin country (Japan) and the same consignee, JLFDM Consumer Goods Trading.

In a statement, BOC said it issued an alert order against the shipment declared to contain used truck parts.

A 100% physical inspection conducted by BOC-MICP revealed three vehicles concealed in 33 bales of used clothing or ukay-ukay. The vehicles were identified as one Ferrari F430 Scuderia, one Mercedes Benz SLK 55 AMG, and one Mercedes Benz E220.

The May 26 seizure involved four sports cars concealed in bales of ukay-ukay.

A warrant of seizure and detention was immediately issued against the latest shipment for possible violation of Section 1400 (Misdeclaration) of Republic Act No. 10863 or the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act.
