The Bureau of Customs (BOC)-Port of Cebu exceeded its February collection target by 7.28%, raking in P3.433 billion in revenue surpassing its target of P3.2 billion by P232.833 million.

District Collector Atty. Ricardo Uy Morales II, CESE expressed gratitude to the Port of Cebu personnel, Subport of Mactan, Subport of Dumaguete, and Bohol Customs Office, along with the support of stakeholders.

“Following our success in January, we have continued to build on our strengths, implementing rigorous strategies in valuation and classification, enhancing our efforts to recover duties and taxes, and exploring non-traditional revenue avenues… Thank you, Team Cebu!” said Morales.

Its subport, BOC-Mactan, recently recognized its top 10 importers for 2023, led by A.D. Gothong Manufacturing Corp., which contributed P478.281 million in duties and taxes to the subport’s P1.664 billion revenue last year.

It was followed by food and beverage company San Miguel Food Inc. with P94.844 million. BOC-Mactan in a statement said the top 10 importers contributed more than half or P943.565 million of the port’s revenue collection last year.

BOC Cebu said in a statement that the achievement highlights the port’s commitment to Commissioner Bienvenido Y. Rubio’s directive for proper valuation, resulting in increased revenue collection, and added that it maintains a balance between stringent border protection measures and efficient trade facilitation, reflecting a “dual commitment to national security and economic prosperity.”

For this year, the BOC targets to collect P959 billion, 9.7% higher than its 2023 goal.
