“Pretty soon, people can drive, walk, bike, or run across this iconic bridge,” said Public Works Undersecretary and Build Build Build Chief Implementer Emil Sadain. The Binondo-Intramuros Bridge involves construction of a 680 linear meter two-way, four-lane bridge connecting the district of Intramuros at Solana Street and Riverside Drive with Binondo at Rentas Street/Plaza del Conde Street and Muelle dela Industria.

The project features a basket-handle tied steel arch main bridge over the Pasig River.

Funded by a grant from China, the project is under contract with China Road and Bridge Corporation.

It is part of the Duterte administration’s Build, Build, Build Program.

New techniques using prefabricated bridge elements with high-performance materials sourced directly from China were adopted to construct the bridge.

The project encountered delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic and right-of-way problems.
