The joint venture (JV) of sister companies 2Go Express, Inc. and 2Go Logistics Philippines, Inc. has bagged a P500-million contract to deploy vote counting machines for the Commission on Elections (Comelec) in regions in Luzon and Visayas.

Comelec commission en banc, through Resolution 10060 promulgated on February 12, awarded the Deployment of Automated Election System Equipment and Allied Services to Lots 1, 2 and 3 to the joint venture for submitting the lowest bid.

According to the resolution, Lot 1—with a contract price of P175.195 million—covers the Ilocos Region, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, and Cordillera Administrative Region. Lot 2—pegged at P180.872 million—includes the National Capital Region, and Regions 4 and 5, while Lot 3—having a contract price of P220.896 million—encompasses Regions 6 to 8.

The resolution ordered the issuance of the Notice of Award to the joint venture, and once done, for the contract signing to follow.

The sister companies are required to post performance security bonds with the Comelec, particularly a bank guarantee/draft confirmed by a universal or commercial bank; an irrevocable letter of credit issued by a universal or commercial bank; and a surety bond callable upon demand issued by a surety or insurance company.

The cargo forwarding and logistics companies also won the contract to deploy voting machines and other election paraphernalia for the May 2013 elections.
