Thirteen agencies signed a memorandum of understanding with the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) to digitalize government processes.

The MOU for e-governance signed on April 25 aims to streamline processes and increase efficiency through the use of digital technology.

The signatories are the Department of Transportation (DOTr), Department of Public Works and Highways, Department of Social Welfare and Development, Bureau of Internal Revenue, Bureau of the Treasury, National Commission of Senior Citizens, Philippine Commission on Women, Council for the Welfare of Children, Anti-Red Tape Authority, National Printing Office, Maritime Industry Authority, and Credit Information Corporation.

DICT secretary Ivan John Uy said they aim to help the government agencies on their journey to digital transformation.

In a statement, Transport Secretary Jaime Bautista said the MOU signing “signals the start of a significant partnership that should help elevate our transport projects to world-class standards.”

The agreement will help better manage transport infrastructure projects through integration with DICT systems, Transport undersecretary Kim Robert De Leon said.

Under the MOU, DICT will help DOTr identify and develop systems and applications to ensure effective and efficient delivery of the agency’s service to the public; ensure such systems are integrated with DICT’s; and provide consultation and training to personnel to enhance systems for interconnection.

“Digitalizing the implementation and construction of these projects will not only keep us on track, but also ensure adherence to high standards of safety, comfort, reliability, and efficiency,” Bautista said.

He said the initiative will facilitate integration of pertinent systems and applications, adding that DOTr’s goal of digital transformation “can be achieved sooner” with DICT’s assistance.

Last year, the Landbank of the Philippines, Department of Interior and Local Government, Department of Trade and Industry, Government Service Insurance System, Social Security System, and Mindanao Development Authority also signed an MOU on e-governance with DICT.
