P700M worth of PH port projects nationwide up for grabs

ID-100197665The Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) will be spending P699.666 million on several port projects around the country, as well as on consultancy services for a feasibility study and a master plan covering several ports in Mindanao.

In the first two weeks of October, PPA had issued five bid bulletins on its website calling for bidders to projects in the ports of Jimenez, Misamis Occidental; Manila North Harbor; Manila South Harbor; and Tagbilaran, Bohol; and to consultancy service for projects in 10 ports in Mindanao.

PPA said it has an approved budget of P47.053 million for the construction of a back-up area, improvement of the terminal management office compound, and installation of a lighting system at the port of Jimenez.

The port agency also seeks bidders for the dredging of the North Harbor entrance channel to 10 meters deep (approved budget of P253.451 million), and to the dredging of the approach and maneuvering areas at marine slipway (funding of P62.36 million).

Another project, the dredging of the Manila South Harbor Fairway Channel leading to Piers 3 to 13, has an allocation of P213.236 million.

For the dredging and widening of the entrance channel to Tagbilaran port, PPA has earmarked P100.492 million.

Winning bidders are given a working schedule ranging from 200 to 300 calendar days to complete the projects.

Meanwhile, PPA is seeking consultants on the conduct of a feasibility study and formulation of a master plan for the ports of Cabadbaran City, Agusan Del Norte; Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay; Siocon, Zamboanga del Norte; Jasaan and Gitagum, Misamis Oriental; Sta. Monica, Del Carmen, Dapa, General Luna, and Pilar in Surigao Del Norte.

PPA will shortlist five eligible bidders to participate in a competitive bidding for the consultancy project that will have a nine-month contract.
