The International Air Transport Association (IATA) has certified the Philippine Multimodal Transport and Logistics Association Inc. (PMTLAI) dangerous goods (DG) training program, saying it conforms with its competency-based training and assessment (CBTA) guidelines.

This accredits PMTLAI to conduct training and provide support to set up training in the transport of DG by air in accordance with such guidelines.

The certificate of accreditation dated February 1, 2023 and signed by IATA director general Willie Walsh, states PMTLAI’s dangerous goods training meets the provision of the IATA Dangerous Goods Regulation (DGR) manual Section 1.5.

The CBTA Excellence accreditation is valid for two years until February 1, 2025, and certifies that PMTLAI offers solutions and services to the industry for developing CBTA in transporting DG in accordance with DGR Appendix H.5, the IATA guidelines for such training.

PMTLAI has been organizing DG seminars for its members and has been tapping IATA experts to provide the training.

The IATA DGR manual is a global reference for shipping dangerous goods by air based on the International Civil Aviation Organization’s technical instructions.

CBTA Excellence is one of three accreditation programs, the two others being CBTA Corporate and CBTA Provider.

CBTA Excellence accreditation allows training organizations to assess and improve their analysis and design methodology, materials, tools and best practices for the development of competency-based training and assessment for dangerous goods.

It provides organizations that offer training solutions and services the opportunity to acquire “CBTA Excellence” accreditation from IATA. Such accreditation attests that the groups’ training design and development methodology is benchmarked on and conforms to IATA’s DGR guidelines.

PMTLAI is an organization of freight forwarders and logistics services providers. It is the merged organization of the Philippine International Seafreight Forwarders Association and Aircargo Forwarders of the Philippines Inc. – Roumina Pablo
