IATA officials conduct Dangerous Goods Workshop on Nov 4
The Dangerous Goods Workshop, slated on November 4, will be led by David Brennan, Head of Cargo Safety and Dangerous Goods at the International Air Transport Association.

International Air Transport Association (IATA) officials will conduct a Dangerous Goods Workshop as part of the first Philippines Air Cargo Day on November 3-4, 2022 at the Manila Marriott Hotel.

The DG workshop, slated on November 4, will be led by David Brennan, Head of Cargo Safety and Dangerous Goods at IATA, and David Wee, IATA Regional Manager for Operations, Safety and Security (Cargo)-Asia-Pacific. They will provide updates on new DG regulations for 2023.

The first part of Philippines Air Cargo Day is the conference and exhibit on November 3.

Aside from IATA, the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines will give an overview of regulations in place in country, including references to national legislation and supply chain management, at the DG workshop.

Philippine Airlines Vice President for Cargo Business Jason Siy will share key challenges in moving dangerous goods in the country.

Workshop participants will receive an electronic copy of the 64th edition of the IATA 2023 DG Regulation and a workshop certificate of participation.

Stakeholders may also join the conference on November 3 that will explore global air cargo and e-commerce trends.

Andre Majeres, IATA Head eCommerce and Cargo Operations, is giving a presentation on “e-Commerce Trends & Online Retailers Shipping Models” on November 3 while Wee will examine “Global Air Cargo Trends & Capacity”.

Government authorities from the transport, trade, customs, and ICT sectors will also make their case at the event jointly organized by IATA, Philippine Multimodal Transport and Logistics Association, Inc., and PortCalls.

The November 3 conference will also discuss:

  • international and local air cargo and ecommerce trends
  • updates on new government cargo initiatives and regulatory changes
  • cargo and postal handling standards
  • and preloading advance cargo information update to prepare for European Union Import Control System 2 implementation

There will be panel discussions from leading practitioners and subject matter experts in air freight on these topics: lessons learned, measures taken to manage the pandemic; and newfound opportunities for digital adoption in the Philippines.

Aside from the event, IATA is conducting e-learning courses, which may be booked separately from the Philippines Air Cargo Day activities.
