Verne Enciso has been appointed director of the Customs Intelligence and Investigation Service (CIIS). He was previously the unit’s acting director.

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. signed Enciso’s appointment paper on June 5, making him a director III of the Bureau of Customs (BOC) and formalized his position as chief of the CIIS. He took his oath before Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin on June 8.

Prior to his appointment, Enciso had served as CIIS acting director since March 2023.

He previously served as CIIS station chief of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) and special assistant to BOC Intelligence Group deputy commissioner Juvymax Uy.

Enciso has been with BOC for more than 17 years, starting his career in 2006 as executive assistant to then Commissioner Napoleon Morales until 2010.

He subsequently joined the Intelligence Group, where he held the position of CIIS station chief in the ports of Cebu, Subic, and NAIA, for more than 13 years.

Enciso earned a Master’s Degree in Management, major in National Security Administration, from the Philippine Christian University in 2022.

In 2021, he completed the Joint Customs Middle Management Program conducted by the Australian Border Force and the RMIT University in Melbourne.
