BOC sets 2023 internal collection target to P921
  • The Bureau of Customs is eyeing to collect P921 billion for 2023
  • The internal target is 2% higher than the P901.3 billion set by the Development Budget Coordination Committee
  • It is also 28% more than this year’s target of P721 billion

The Bureau of Customs (BOC) has set an internal revenue collection target of P921 billion for 2023, according to Acting Customs commissioner Yogi Filemon Ruiz.

The target is 2% more than the P901.3 billion set by the Development Budget Coordination Committee, Ruiz said in a media forum on December 28.

It is also 28% more than this year’s goal of P721 billion, which BOC has already exceeded by 9.5% after taking in P790.301 billion from January to November.

“We are ending the year with so much surplus,” Ruiz said, noting that this will redound to more government projects and services.

Contributing the highest revenue among the 17 BOC collection districts is Manila International Container Port, which handles the country’s biggest volume of shipments, followed by the Ports of Batangas and Limay, Ruiz said.

The January to November take is historically the highest collection of BOC to date, with all 17 collection districts achieving their cumulative revenue targets for the first 11 months of the year.

BOC earlier noted that several reforms were expedited and implemented that paved the way in plugging revenue leakages and led to a sustained positive collection performance.

BOC has been surpassing its monthly revenue targets this year. Its highest monthly collection to date was achieved in July with P84.424 billion.
