Zim plans December rate hikes for Asia-US loop

Box ship Zim Integrated announced rate hikes for all cargo on the Asia-U.S. trade lane effective December.

The Israel-based ocean carrier said cargo from Asia going into U.S. West Coast ports and intermodal destinations will be levied additional fees of US$320 per 20-foot-equivalent unit (TEU), $400 per 40-foot-equivalent unit (FEU), $450 per 40-foot high-cube container, and $510 per 45-foot container.

Meanwhile,Far East cargo bound for U.S. Midwest destinations, U.S. East Coast ports, U.S. Gulf ports, and RIPI destinations will carry additional rates of $480 per TEU, $600 per FEU, $675 per 40-foot high-cube container, and $760 per 45-foot container.

The general rate increases take effect from December 1, Zim said in a November 1 statement.
