Weiss-Röhlig Japan, an international joint venture of Gebrüder Weiss and Röhlig Logistics, takes over the Japanese air and sea freight shipping company JHB Express.

Weiss-Röhlig Japan takes over JHB Express, an international logistics company specialising in air and sea freight. The acquisition is in power as of 1 January 2012. Due to the complete takeover, Weiss-Röhlig expands its presence in the Asian market: Osaka, where the acquired company is located, will become the second pillar of Weiss-Röhlig Japan, next to the Headquarters Tokyo. Both parties have agreed not to disclose the purchase price.

Weiss-Röhlig Japan will continue air and sea freight business of JHB Express seamlessly. And also in the field of staff, continuity is ensured: The previous owner of JHB, Hikoiku Yoshikawa, will become Vice Chairman of Weiss-Röhlig Japan. Japanese Country Manager is Kazuyoshi Fujiwara, who has been working for the global network in Japan since 1997. Likewise, all employees will remain with the company.

”With the acquisition, we will gain more stability in Japan,” says Joe Lässer, Director Air & Sea at Gebrüder Weiss. He continues: ”In addition to strengthening our intra-Asia traffic, especially our major trading partners in the USA and Europe will benefit from this expansion.”

The services of Weiss-Röhlig Japan include daily shipments to major air cargo hubs around the world. Weiss-Röhlig has a global network with over 6,000 employees and 153 branches in 43 countries. In Asia, Gebrüder Weiss and Röhlig Logistics are represented with joint ventures at a total of 37 locations in seven countries.
