The Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) will offer free snacks to passengers vaccinated against COVID-19 who will use its port terminals from August 3 to 20

“In support of the government’s COVID-19 vaccination program, and in consonance with the mandate of the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) to keep its ports safe, you are directed to make available free light snacks for all vaccinated passengers passing through terminals under your area of responsibility,” PPA general manager Jay Daniel Santiago ordered all port managers in a memo dated August 3.

The snacks will be given to passengers who have received either the first or full dose, the memo said. To avail, passengers need to present proof of their vaccination with their names and dates of vaccination.

The Department of Transportation, mother agency of PPA, also ordered the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines and Manila International Airport Authority to provide free snacks to vaccinated passengers waiting for their flights in airports nationwide.

The directive comes before Metro Manila shifts to the strictest form of lockdown, enhanced community quarantine (ECQ), from August 6 to 20 amid local transmission of the highly infectious COVID-19 Delta variant.

In a statement, DOTr said domestic flights and sea travel in Metro Manila will continue during the ECQ period, subject to community quarantine restrictions of the destinations.

Under ECQ, only Authorized Persons Outside Their Residences will be allowed to travel into and out of the NCR Plus Area, which includes the neighboring provinces of Cavite, Bulacan, Laguna, and Rizal.
