Trucks with gross capacity weight of more than 4,500 kilos are temporarily banned from plying Roxas Boulevard to ease traffic congestion amid construction in Manila, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said on Thursday (Oct 20).

The truck ban, under Resolution 22-16, will last until the road repair is completed.

The Department of Public Works and Highways is repairing segments of Roxas Boulevard, particularly in front of the US embassy, “to avoid deterioration”, according to MMDA acting chairman Carlo Dimayuga III.

Alternative routes for trucks are as follows:

From SLEX to Port Area:

From South Luzon Expressway straight to Osmeña Highway to Pres. Quirino Avenue, turn left to Plaza Dilao towards Pres. Quirino Ext., left at U.N Avenue, turn right to Romualdez, turn left to Ayala Avenue/P. Burgos Avenue, then turn right to Bonifacio Drive to destination.

From Port Area to SLEX

From Bonifacio Drive, turn left to P. Burgos/Ayala Blvd. then turn right to San Marcelino, turn left to Pres. Quirino Avenue then right turn to Pres. Osmeña highway to SLEX.

As part of the MMDA’s traffic mitigation measures for the holidays, MMDA will also implement a moratorium on road diggings, except for the government’s flagship projects, from Nov. 14 until Jan. 2, Dimayuga said.
