HPT_1Hutchison Ports Thailand (HPT) said it crossed this month the threshold to 15 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) of containers lifted, 13 years since the port operator began to operate in the country.

HPT commemorated on October 21 the loading of the 15 millionth standard container onto OOCL’s vessel M.V. ARICA at its Terminal C1C2 in Laem Chabang Port, with port officials, customers, and business partners in attendance.

Operating since 2002, HPT is Thailand’s largest container terminal operator and is managing and operating Terminals A2, A3, C1 and C2 at Laem Chabang Port with 15 quay cranes and 39 container yard cranes.

It said it will soon start the construction of new deep-water facilities at Terminals D1, D2, and D3 to meet the anticipated growth in Thailand’s economy.

At the commemoration, managing director Stephen Ashworth said the company intends to “continue to improve the service we provide to our customers through further investments in equipment and technology.”
