The Bureau of Customs (BOC) has renamed the Subport of Dadiangas in South Cotabato into the Subport of General Santos.
In a memo, BOC Officer-in-Charge deputy commissioner for Management Information System and Technology Group Kriden Balgomera said the subport’s renaming was carried out on BOC’s Electronic-to-Mobile (E2M) System on March 16.
The Subport of Dadiangas (seaport) and Subport of Dadiangas International Airport were renamed subports of General Santos with the port code P12A and subport of General Santos International Airport with port code P12AA, respectively.
The renaming is in keeping with Customs Memorandum Circular No. 30-2023 dated Ferbuary 15.
The CMC amended Customs Administrative Order (CAO) No. 10-76 dated February 23, 1976 to rename the Subport of Dadiangas to General Santos. Under CAO 10-76, the Subport of General Santos City (Dadiangas) was placed under Collection District 12, or the Port of Davao.
BOC noted that while the Subport of Dadiangas was used interchangeably with Subport of General Santos with respect to the port’s location and territorial limit, it has been renamed to avoid confusion among the subport’s “present and prospective stakeholders who wish to transact with the said Subport and in order to actually reflect the jurisdiction of the said Subport as of its present-day equivalent…”
Aside from General Santos, two other subports under BOC-Davao are the subports of Parang in North Cotabato and Mati in Davao Oriental.
