The Bureau of Customs (BOC) apprehended on November 2 a 40-foot container holding used jet skis, used motorcycles, and other misdeclared items estimated to be worth P3.9 million at Manila South Harbor.

The shipment arrived in Manila from Japan on October 3, and was consigned to Fastside Consumer Goods Trading, BOC said in a statement.

According to the initial report, the consignee declared the shipment as containing electric motors, e-bikes, sofa, and cabinet.

Upon the request of BOC’s Enforcement Security Service personnel, the container was physically examined, and discovered inside were misdeclared goods, including about 45 various used motorcycles and bicycles, used and brand-new rims, two jet skis, and other assorted household effects.

An alert order was issued against the shipment on October 29 based on derogatory information received from BOC’s Intelligence Group.

BOC-Port of Manila district collector Michael Angelo Vargas ordered the issuance of a warrant of seizure and detention against the shipment for violation of Section 1400 (Misdeclaration, Misclassification, and Undervaluation in Goods Declaration) in relation to Section 1113 (Property Subject to Seizure and Forfeiture) of the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act.
