After the election of Directors for 2013 at the last GMM for 2012, the ten elected directors elected from among themselves the officers who will serve in 2013.

Below are the results.

  • President and Director        Gabby Patag TNT Express
  • Vice President and Director           Arnel Gamboa          Benby Enterprises
  • Secretary and Director        Cora Curay   XVC Logistics
  • Treasurer and Director        Lito Nepomuceno    ICCI
  • Auditor and Director                        Max Yap        Oriental & Motolite
  • PRO and Director                Henry Batallones     SSI Schaefer
  • Director          George Yumul          ABM Global
  • Director          Jess Sarmiento        Smart
  • Director          Manny Onrejas        Fast Cargo
  • Director          Reynalita Cano        PLDT

The first five directors above are returnees, i. e., they served in 2012. Henry Batallones and George Yumul served as committee chairmen in 2012. Thus there will be sufficient continuity, yet there will be new blood. No doubt Manny Onrejas will get the full support of 2012 president and “supply chain idol” Ike Castillo, who will be in the background to continue to give solid advice to the Board.

The election was held under the amended by-laws. One of the key amendments is that the Directors coming from the ranks of logistics service providers are no longer limited to two out of ten. The limit has been increased to three. Thus there are three service providers in the new Board – TNT, XVC and Fast Cargo.

Committee chairpersons will be appointed by the Board.

Another key amendment which is now operative is that there will no longer be a limit to the number of service providers in the membership. Prior to the amendment, service providers had been limited to 20%. Furthermore the restriction on purely transport service providers has been lifted. The only restriction remaining is to monopolies and cartels.

Christmas Fellowship

The results of the election were announced at the annual Christmas fellowship last December 5. The fellowship marked a return to the Makati Sports Club after a year’s absence.

As expected the event was a night of merriment, dancing and fun among members and friends. Part time comedian Ninoy Rollan again emceed the proceedings. As usual there were numerous raffle prizes, excellent music, sumptuous food, wine and Cebu lechon donated by Fast. Everybody went home with a gift bag. Event managers were Cora Curay and Anna Quintos. As usual Elsie Oafallas, Annette Camangon, Ochie Ochoa and the XVC team volunteered their assistance.

SCMAP friends seen at the party were from Federation of Philippine Industries (Mr. & Mrs. Meneleo Carlos, REID Foundation (Jet Acena, Marc Ayes, Marlon Yap), INHTA (Teddy Gervacio), Lorenzo (Romel Ronas, Rowena del Rosario), NMCCLI (Sally Go, Mace Simbono), Magsaysay Logisticcs (Jovy Lee, Pipoy Adrias), Boeing MH (Jane Ocana, Rick Nimo), and 2GO (Bimsy Mapa).
