Amsterdam Airport Schiphol has welcomed the inaugural flight of Thai Cargo’s new weekly B747 freighter services.

The aircraft – delivered in early May – was escorted to the ramp by a fleet of airport authority ramp vehicles, where it enjoyed the traditional water arch salute by Schiphol’s Fire Brigade.

The new Thai Cargo freighter service operates Bangkok-Madras-Amsterdam-Bangkok, and marks the return of Thai Cargo to Schiphol after an absence of around 18 months. Aviapartner has been appointed to provide ground and ramp handling services.

Says Thai Cargo Regional Manager Sales & Operations, Norbert Rockenmeyer: “Our fleet development program is proceeding entirely according to our schedule. Now we are able to offer the Dutch cargo community a combined transport capacity of around 200 tonnes per week.”

Thai Cargo’s new freighter service brings Amsterdam’s total of freighter operators to 22, and its weekly total of freighter flights to 300.
