Shipping lines are continuing to beef up their network presence within Southeast Asia as the region prepares for the formal launch of its economic integration this year.

Regional Container Lines (RCL) has announced the launch of its new joint service with Yang Ming Marine that will connect Thailand, Indonesia, and Malaysia beginning this month.

The weekly RTB (RCL Thailand-Belawan) service will make calls at Bangkok, Singapore, Belawan, Port Klang (West Port), and back to Singapore.

This service will provide a more stable schedule for Bangkok in Thailand with the addition of a second vessel in the rotation, said RCL.

The call at Port Klang (Westport) in Malaysia allows customers to choose between Singapore and Port Klang for their transhipment requirement coming from Belawan in Indonesia. This service also provides a direct ride-through between Bangkok and Belawan.

The maiden voyage will begin June 22, sailing from Singapore to Bangkok, and July 1, leaving Singapore for Belawan.

RCL and Yang Ming Marine will contribute one vessel each to this two-vessel rotation.
